Before you write
How soon will I hear back?
Every message goes straight to Joey Childs — there's no form routed through an account manager — so you're talking to the person who'll actually do the work from the first reply.
Is the consultation really free?
Yes. The first conversation is free and no-pressure. Joey will ask a few questions, give you an honest read on whether he's the right fit, and follow up with a rough scope and timeline before any commitment.
Do you work with businesses outside the Bay Area?
JC Media is based in San Jose and serves the whole San Francisco Bay Area in person. Websites, SEO, and software are also available remotely for businesses anywhere; photography and aerial work is Bay Area-based.
Can you handle both my website and my photos?
Yes — that's the core of how JC Media works. One studio builds the website, does the SEO, ships the software, and shoots the photography and aerial work, so everything is made to fit together instead of stitched from separate vendors.
What happens to my website if I stop working with JC Media?
You own everything. Your website code lives in a GitHub repository in your name, written in Next.js and React — open-source frameworks that any developer anywhere can read, modify, and maintain. Your domain and hosting accounts are registered to you. The internal client platform Joey uses to organize projects is his studio's own tool; you don't depend on it after the project ships. Walking away means keeping a fully portable codebase built on the most widely used web stack in the industry — no proprietary CMS, no mystery code, no lock-in.
Is a boutique studio a risk if something comes up mid-project?
Direct communication is one of the concrete advantages of a boutique studio. If a schedule shift happens, you hear about it immediately from the person running the project — not after a message routes through an account manager and a support queue. All work is version-controlled on GitHub and documented at every step, so the project state is always legible. Joey also scopes projects in clear phases so that if there's ever a pause, it lands at a natural milestone rather than mid-task.
Is JC Media the right fit if my business is growing fast?
It depends on what growth looks like for your business. Regional service businesses, growing brands, and nonprofits that need a fast, direct partner who actually knows the project tend to be a strong fit — you're not being handed off to a junior coordinator while the senior team works on a larger account. If you're running enterprise-level campaigns that need a dedicated in-house marketing department or round-the-clock agency support at global scale, that's a genuinely different kind of operation. JC Media is focused on clients it can serve at a high level — the right fit matters more than the largest studio.
Does JC Media only work with local Bay Area businesses?
The studio's deepest track record is with local and regional service businesses in northern California — that's the specialty, and where clients see the strongest results. Website, software, and SEO work travel; photography and aerial are Bay Area-based. Businesses whose core need is strictly international e-commerce infrastructure or complex SaaS platform engineering would benefit from a studio with that specific focus, just as any specialist produces better results in their lane than a generalist would.
